Deepak Sahani
A boatman carrying forward his ancestral lineage for the third generation, Deepak is your Captain and guide. He has six boats operational from Assi Ghat and caters to both Hindu pilgrims and travelers. He is the quintessential Varanasi boatman and will instantly charm you with his knowledge, kindness and good humor.
Rajesh Sahani
Hailing from a boatman family as well, Rajesh is our local cook on board the Tarangini. He will delight your palate with his local cuisine freshly prepared on board with a menu ranging from everyday classics made from local produce to elaborate princely spreads. Rajesh has many culinary surprises in store for you and he welcomes you to be a part of the preparations while he shares his culinary knowledge on indian cuisine and spices.
Laurige Boyer
A French eco entrepreneur residing in India for 8 years and counting, Laurige divides his time between his travel agency in Northeast India, his eco-chic camp in Ladakh, guiding motorcycle tours in Rajasthan, South India and Nepal and co-managing the Tarangini with Deepak in Varanasi. He is responsible for designing and organizing your cruise and will be your liaison agent.
Monique Soutenet
A retired French schoolteacher, Monique has made India her second home. She has been living in India with Deepak and his family for the past 10 years. During her stay she gained invaluable knowledge of the Ganga and life in the villages along the river, which makes her an excellent cruise guide. She has an undying love for the Ganga and continues to assist and guide Deepak on his boat tours.
